Blancco Ltd., the global leader in data erasure and end-of-lifecycle solutions, today announced that Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ: SUNW) will license Blancco’s data erasure software. Under terms of the agreement, Blancco and Sun will work together to develop a global standards-based solution designed to help customers manage their data center assets within their corporate policies and in adherence with regulatory guidelines.
“Sun Microsystems is a true pioneer in the field of servers and storage devices, and this partnership not only helps us meet our ongoing hardware support goals but also enables us to spread the positive impact of complete, certified data erasure to Sun ’s extensive global reach,” said Kim Väisänen, managing director for Blancco. “By working with Sun we can pass on all the benefits and security merits that Blancco software solution offers.” The partnership between Blancco and Sun highlights a worldwide focus on data security, fuelled by increasing government regulations put in place to protect privacy and prevent fraud – requiring companies to keep their business running smoothly while keeping data safe from intruders. Blancco’s data erasure software adheres to the security guidelines of national and international erasure standards, providing Sun with a tested solution that performs to worldwide regulatory standards. In addition, this new solution can meet the rigorous data protection policies of a company's own internal security department as well as the guidelines of the regulatory agencies who audit these policies.
