SuperComputing 2009 is an international conference for high performance computing, networking, storage and analysis. This year it will take place between November 14th and 20th in Portland Oregon, at their Convention Center. It is also going to be the venue for Ixia to showcase its capabilities in multiple areas of technology. Ixia, in association with Ethernet Alliance is going to exhibit a 10GE network infrastructure which has integrated with a virtualized data structure, SANs or Storage Area Networks and their expansion and FCoE or fibre channel over Ethernet. So what has led to this development in the data center market? Two main reasons - (a) a data center today is taking in technology that derives from and is powered by the coming together of fibre channel and Ethernet. (b) a data center today is going through phenomenal progress and growth. Therefore a necessity for a 10 GE network. As Ixia's President and CEO, Atul Bhatnagar, states, the converged data center is the way forward and therefore Ixia has come up with data center testing solutions which give enterprises, network equipment manufacturers and service providers the wherewithal to establish converged data centers. Ixia operates in 30 countries and is a leader in performance test systems for IP-based infrastructure and services. Its solutions are used by governments, enterprise, semiconductor manufacturers and network and telephony system vendors to name a few. The demo is titled “Ethernet : THE Converged Network” and will put on show all the technologies mentioned above. The 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GE) technologies will come from firms like Mellanox, Dell, Intel, NetApp, Fulcrum, QLogic and Dell. Ixia will provide juice to the demonstration with their converged data center test applications for FCoE and virtualization, high density 10GBASE-T and SFP + test ports. Their famous IxYukon 10 GE load modules have been recognized by Frost and Sullivan as “2009 Global 10 GbE Lab Test product of the Year”. SuperComputing 09 will put on display the IxYukon, the XM 12 chassis of Ixia and test applications. Ixia has also allied with Arista Networks and Fulcrum Microsystems to check out a 10GBASE-T switch which has ultra low latency and high throughput. The latter two will also be displaying their wares in SuperComputing 09. Essentially, Ixia's test solutions looks at, DCE or Data Center Ethernet, FCoE or Fibre Channel over Ethernet, CEE or Converged Enhanced Ethernet and SAN or Storage Area Network devices. A data center operator or a manufacturer will get a chance to take a look at their operations and efficacy levels. The process needs testing to be carried out at different levels. Be it at a physical stratum or at an Ethernet level. Firms like Mellanox, Cisco and Fulcrum will come in to showcase the testing of these technologies. Data centers which are operating in a virtualized environment will be powered by Ixia's IxVM which allows for benchmarking performance indicators. IxVM can be used in sync with an advanced VM server with QLogic converged network adapters.
