EMC is a 40,000-strong IT company that has a presence in more than 60 countries. Over the past 4 years they have allied in different ways with more than 40 software companies to enhance their core business areas. EMC believes in providing flexible, scalable and secure information infrastructure.
In line with this philosophy of simplicity of operations, EMC has now come up with a clutch of products that let companies use their EMC Documentum Enterprise Content Management (ECM) with greater ease and flexibility. EMC has focussed with great deliberation on making ECM easier to understand and use. This focus is explained by Melissa Webster who is the program Vice President at Content and Media Digital Technologies, IDC. As she said, for more users to be more effective in accessing, collecting and storing information related to compliance and governance, ECM operations need to be transparent and well incorporated with everyday, normal business uses faced by workers. The EMC Documentum provides this easy, secure and functional access. So what goes into this clutch of products? EMC My Documentum Offline - even when you are not connected to the Documentum network, you could still look at the most recent versions of most used content, EMC My Documentum for SharePoint - maximises user interface with flawless and direct entry to all the information within the Documentum boundary, EMC My Documentum for Outlook - all the facilities of use that Outlook offers can be availed by you with this feature. Which means you get to store, categorize and find all vital mails and information in Documentum. This feature gets a thumbs up from Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Timothy Moy, an analyst at FDA states the users there were able to start functioning with this in a staggeringly short time of three weeks since all they had to do was use it along with their routinely used Outlook programs. EMC My Documentum for Desktop - which gives you a handle on functions pertaining to reaching, saving and sharing content in Documentum through programs like Windows Explorer, other MS Office programs and Apple Macintosh Finder. EMC Documentum and its stable of products enjoys huge client base even now since it gives a gateway for a user to all data vital to a business. Furthermore, it also lets its users supervise and collect data from other sources like government and regulations etc, while staying with their routine applications. Yet another advantage that My Documentum provides is the ease of integration with other popular applications like Windows Explorer, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft SharePoint. What this translates into is that a user can access all operations and uses from everyday desktop applications and already-in-use tools. Thus, a user does not need to set aside time to learn afresh or even sift through several applications at once. So with the ECM Documentum, a company also gets easier ways to enhance learning among workers and ROI on Documentum. As the Chief Marketing Officer of Content Management and Archiving Division, EMC, Whitney Tidmarsh pointed out - ECM the EMC way gives the user flexibility to work according to the methods they are most comfortable with and with no extra training.
